Yoga for Weight Loss to Get Slim and Healthy Body

1. The Bridge Pose (Setu Bandh)

First of all lie down on your back and bend your knees such that your feet rest on the floor. Your hands must be straight lying on the floor. Now, breathe in slowly and simultaneously try to lift your body (abdomen) upwards till your body allows you. Do not over-stretch it else it may cause muscle sprain. Then relax back to the initial position while slowly breathing out with the flow. Try doing this 5-10 times. This posture gives a good massage to the thighs and the lower back, hence being a good yoga for weight loss.

2. The Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

In this case, you have to sleep on the ground in such a manner that your stomach, feet and forehead touch the floor. Now position your palms just under your shoulders. Stretch your legs such that the top of your feet presses down against the mat. Now breathe-in and slowly push your hands against the floor, thereby sending your chest upwards. This yoga for weight loss resembles a snake and hence called the cobra or snake pose.

3. The Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

Here you have to stand on a mat, keeping your body straight. Now, put your hands up straight and stretch them as much as you can without straining too much. This gives an internal massage to the hands, spine, whole of the back and the entire body. This yoga for weight loss is excellent for teenagers as it increases their height as well along with the mentioned benefits.

4. The Chair Pose (Utkatasana)

Stand in The Mountain Pose (Tadasana). Now bend your knees as if you were sitting on an invisible chair. Stay in this posture for about 30 seconds and then release. If 30 seconds seems too much for you, you may then shorten this time-span, and increase it later day by day as you get used to it. This yoga for weight loss reduces fats from the arms and thighs and tones them really well.

5. Downward Facing Dog Pose (Adhomukha Shvanasana)

Stand straight normally on your yoga mat with your feet resting firm and flat. Keep your spine upright. Allow your hands rest alongside your body with the palms resting on thighs. Have a deep inhalation and exhalation slowly bending frontwards in such a manner that your palms rest on the mat spreading out exactly as the width of your shoulders. Make sure that all of your fingers are spread out. Let the face down gazing on the floor. Stretch out your legs, one each at a time, towards your back, being spread out at shoulders' width. Let the hands and feet being aligned. Keep your knees and the elbows straight. While taking a deep inhalation, try to suck your abdomen entirely such that your navel and spine be close to each other. Hold this pose till the count of 60. Breathing out gently, release your body from the pose and get relaxed. This is one repetition. Repeat it 7 times, thereby taking a pause of 10 seconds in between. It tones the tummy, arms, thighs and hamstrings and hence considered as highly effective yoga for weight loss to get slim and healthy body.

Doing pranayama (different types of breathing techniques) like bhastrika, anulom-vilom, bhramri and kapalbhati just before practicing yoga enhances the body's metabolism to a great extent, hence supporting weight loss very much.
